Does suspension change the behavior of a student? how?

Please help me .. I need someone to give me ideas. I need it for my debate. I will pick the best answer. Thanks.Does suspension change the behavior of a student? how?
No. All it does is give the student a day off, which to many is a reward. In school suspensions may have some effect, but a truly unruly student can easily use them to his or her advantage. Acting out in ISS usually earns a student more days in it. A student can make it so he or she spends more time in ISS than in the actual classroom.Does suspension change the behavior of a student? how?
If the student is a genuinely good kid who never gets in trouble, but managed to make this one mistake...yes, it can help change the behavior. If this child's parents are upset and also punish him/her it will stick with the child. However, lots of students (and parents) don't care about suspensions. It doesn't teach a lesson, because they don't care. And, lots of time, they don't want to be at school anyway, so being suspended gives them a good reason to stay home.Does suspension change the behavior of a student? how?
