Her mood may change to be a little more agrressive, or even a little more loveable (always wanting to be touched, pet, etc.). You may also notice %26quot;mounting%26quot; behavior which is her back legs up in the air and her head and lower body down.
But most of the time, there will be no changes in their behavior at all.

Why are you allowing her to go into heat? Get her spayed before her first heat - it's the best thing you can do for your dog.

from memory it lasts about 3 weeks. Firstly she will swell, then have a red discharge for a week or so. This discharge will then change to a cream colour, this is the danger time!!! she is ready to mate. If you rub the top of her tail like you are scratching fleas she will swing her tail around and upwards in a hook like fashion, that means she is wanting a bit !! make sure you keep her locked up if you dont want her pregnant. Dogs from miles around will smell her and be hanging around. Dont walk her during this time because she will be urinating left right and centre leaving her scent for the boys to follow her home
