isolation is a form of punishment. humans are social creatures, they need to interact. i dont think animals can provide the same kind of interaction and stimulation.

his/her ability to speak normally will be severely curbed. losing ones mind is also another possibility. it finally boils down to the persons will power.

being alone for that long would drive people crazy people need other humans

try being alone for 3 days (no tv, laptop, phone or anything that commiucates with other humans) it's not fun and 99.99999999999999% of people need other humans for there mental health

so some would kill themsleves to get out of it

Well, that really depends on when he/she was placed there and how long he/she has been there. if one has been placed on the desert island when they were little and been there for a couple of years, they might even not able to behavior like a human. however, if a well educated adult was isolated for just one or two year, it won't make much of a difference after their return, given sometime
